Dog Training: The Prequel

Howdy folks!
So, a couple of important things to keep in mind when you’re reading my training posts.

  1. I have a natural knack for dog training, so it just ‘makes sense’ to me. Don’t be alarmed if that’s not true for you, applying the principles found in my training blog can still net you a well-trained dog. If that isn’t working for you, that’s what professional dog trainers are for!
  2. No matter how great your professional dog trainer is, you will need to maintain that training by using the training and commands as often as practical. For commands you rarely use, it’s important to exercise those commands at least once a week.
  3. I became a professional dog trainer primarily to focus on the ‘difficult’ dogs, the ones that came back to the humane society because they were ‘too wild’, ‘out of control’, or, ‘aggressive’. As a result, my training is in depth, demanding, and does not allow the dog to ‘slide’ or ‘get away with stuff’.
  4. Side note, i’ve worked with dogs that actually were trying to eat me, and I can tell you that 90% of the dogs i’ve worked with that were labelled ‘aggressive’, were not actually aggressive, they just didn’t have any manners.
  5. I travel all over the country for work, bringing my two dogs with me, and they’re expected to behave and perform at a higher level than most would be. While all dogs can be trained to behave as well as mine, I don’t expect you to do that yourself, and it’s certainly not required, so don’t let that discourage you!
